The IGERT program offers additional opportunities:

• An internship in industry (one month * one year)
• Teaching opportunities (Preparing the Professoriate: http://www.fis.ncsu.edu/grad/ptp/)
• Ethics study opportunities (Research Ethics Fellows: http://www.fis.ncsu.edu/grad/ethics/fellows.htm)
• Study abroad (one month - one year)

IGERT fellows are supported for three years, receiving:

• Annual stipend of $30,000
• Health benefits
• University fees paid
• In-state or out-of-state tuition paid
• Annual supplement (generally $1,000) to purchase books, computers, supplies, etc...
  

IGERT fellows are then supported by other fund sources for the remainder of their graduate program.
